La région de Kagoshima, au Japon, souhaite vendre davantage de thé tencha à d’autres pays. Le tencha est utilisé pour fabriquer le matcha, un thé que beaucoup de gens aiment parce qu’il est très sain. Le matcha est aujourd’hui très populaire au Japon et à l’étranger.
Un agriculteur nommé Kamimuro cultive du thé dans la ville de Shibushi. Avant, il cultivait du sencha, un thé vert commun. Mais maintenant, il cultive du tencha parce qu’il se vend à un meilleur prix. Pour cultiver le tencha, il doit bloquer la lumière du soleil pendant trois semaines. Il a également investi 1,4 million de dollars dans une grosse machine pour sécher les feuilles.
De nombreuses personnes dans le monde veulent acheter du matcha, mais il n’y a pas assez de tencha. Une entreprise de Kagoshima aide les agriculteurs à parler aux acheteurs d’autres pays. Ils veulent fabriquer du matcha à Kagoshima et l’expédier à partir de là.
