En Angleterre, la police arrête un jeune garçon. Le garçon n’a que 16 ans. La police pense que le garçon coupe un arbre très ancien et célèbre.

Cet arbre a 300 ans. Il figure même dans un film de Robin des Bois. Kevin Costner joue dans ce film. La police pense que quelqu’un a fait exprès de couper l’arbre. Ce n’est pas un accident.

Les habitants de la région sont très mécontents. L’arbre fait partie de leur vie. Ils veulent planter de nouveaux arbres comme l’ancien. Mais il faudra de nombreuses années avant qu’un autre arbre ne pousse. Beaucoup de gens disent qu’il n’est pas possible de remplacer l’arbre mort.
