Première greffe d’oeil au monde – niveau 2

Des chirurgiens new-yorkais ont réalisé la toute première greffe d’un œil entier chez un être humain. Il s’agit d’une avancée historique.

Aaron James, un vétéran militaire, a subi une opération qui a duré 21 heures. L’opération faisait partie d’une greffe partielle du visage après un accident électrique au travail. L’œil greffé n’a pas aidé Aaron à voir mais il montre des signes positifs de santé. Le docteur Eduardo Rodriguez a déclaré que l’opération était un grand succès et il a mentionné que les gens pensaient toujours qu’une telle opération n’était pas possible.

L’œil transplanté ne communique actuellement pas avec le cerveau, mais le succès de l’opération ouvre une nouvelle porte sur les possibilités futures d’aider les gens à voir à nouveau.
