Madrid a connu les plus fortes précipitations depuis 1972, ce qui a entraîné de graves inondations dans le métro.

Deux personnes sont mortes et deux autres sont portées disparues en Espagne. Des vidéos diffusées sur les médias sociaux ont montré de l’eau se déversant dans des wagons de métro en mouvement et choquant les passagers. À Aldea del Fresno, les pompiers ont sauvé un garçon de 10 ans qui avait disparu, tandis qu’un autre homme a disparu à Villamanta après avoir été emporté par l’eau et la boue.

Plusieurs ponts se sont effondrés, et les routes, les métros et les trains ont été fermés en raison des inondations. Le maire de Madrid a demandé à la population de rester chez elle. L’agence météorologique a mis en garde contre des conditions météorologiques extrêmes dans plusieurs régions. Les experts prévoient jusqu’à 120 litres de pluie par mètre carré.
