Sarah Ferguson, la duchesse d’York, a perdu son rôle de marraine de Julia’s House, une organisation caritative britannique pour les enfants malades. L’organisation caritative a déclaré qu’il n’était pas juste qu’elle continue après qu’un courriel ait montré qu’elle avait appelé Jeffrey Epstein son bon ami.
Le courriel date de 2011. En public, elle a déclaré qu’être proche d’Epstein était une grosse erreur, mais elle lui a écrit des mots gentils. Son équipe a expliqué plus tard qu’elle n’avait fait cela que pour mettre fin à d’éventuels ennuis judiciaires. Epstein était un délinquant sexuel, et l’organisation caritative voulait protéger son travail et son nom. Ferguson est devenue mécène en 2018, mais aujourd’hui, son lien a pris fin. Elle n’a pas fait de commentaires sur l’affaire.
D’autres organisations caritatives, comme Teenage Cancer Trust, vérifient si elles la garderont également comme marraine.
