Le milliardaire égyptien Mohamed al-Fayed est décédé à l’âge de 94 ans.

Al-Fayed a commencé comme vendeur et s’est enrichi dans l’immobilier et la construction au Moyen-Orient et en Europe. Propriétaire de symboles britanniques tels que Harrods et Fulham FC, il a toujours été considéré comme un étranger au Royaume-Uni. Il s’est longtemps disputé avec le gouvernement britannique au sujet de la citoyenneté et a souvent parlé de s’installer en France, où il a reçu une récompense de premier plan.

Al-Fayed a passé dix ans à essayer de prouver que Diana et son fils étaient morts dans un accident de voiture en 1997 et qu’il s’agissait d’un meurtre. Il a accusé la famille royale britannique d’avoir provoqué l’accident. Al-Fayed est décédé un jour avant le 26e anniversaire de leur mort.
