Armani est né en 1934. Il vit d’abord à Piacenza, puis à Milan. Il étudie la médecine mais arrête. Il commence à travailler dans un magasin, puis avec le créateur Nino Cerruti. En 1975, il ouvre sa propre entreprise de mode. Il garde son entreprise privée.
Sa famille et ses amis perpétueront son nom.
