Le premier ministre indien Narendra Modi s’est rendu aux Émirats arabes unis pour renforcer les liens et montrer l’influence de l’Inde. Ce voyage a eu lieu juste avant les élections indiennes.
Bien qu’il y ait eu des troubles entre les Émirats arabes unis et l’Inde par le passé, Modi a inauguré le premier temple hindou d’Abu Dhabi. Les Émirats arabes unis abritent plus de 3 millions d’Indiens, et Modi se concentre désormais sur eux.
La visite a également donné lieu à des accords sur le commerce et les investissements. Les deux pays collaborent plus que jamais.
Modi veut renforcer son image de leader mondial, et il a besoin que les hindous le soutiennent lors des élections.
