La police des Philippines a arrêté Apollo Quiboloy, un célèbre chef religieux.

Les autorités américaines et philippines recherchent Quiboloy pour trafic sexuel d’enfants. Quiboloy s’est rendu de lui-même après que la police a fouillé sa grande maison de Davao pendant deux semaines. Lui et quatre autres personnes comparaîtront devant la justice pour maltraitance d’enfants, abus sexuels et trafic d’êtres humains. Les Philippines n’ont pas l’intention de l’envoyer aux États-Unis pour le moment.

Quiboloy a des millions d’adeptes dans le monde entier et est le chef d’une église appelée le Royaume de Jésus-Christ. Il était proche de l’ancien président Rodrigo Duterte, ce qui l’a rendu très puissant. Les autorités américaines pensent que Quiboloy a amené des enfants et des femmes aux États-Unis pour qu’ils mendient de l’argent, qu’il gardait pour lui.
