En avril, l’Australien Tim Shaddock et sa chienne Bella sont partis de La Paz, au Mexique. L’homme de 51 ans voulait se rendre en Polynésie française à bord de son bateau, mais il a rencontré des problèmes.
En mai, des tempêtes ont endommagé l’électronique du bateau, et Shaddock et son chien se sont retrouvés bloqués au milieu de l’océan Pacifique. Le couple n’a survécu que grâce à l’eau de pluie qu’il a bue et au poisson cru qu’il a mangé.
Finalement, un hélicoptère a repéré le bateau et le couple est maintenant sur le chemin du retour vers le Mexique. L’homme et son chien semblaient tous deux en bonne santé, mais Shaddock subira un examen de santé lorsqu’il sera au Mexique.
