Joseph Dituri est un professeur d’université également connu sous le nom de ”Dr Deep Sea”. Il vient de battre le record de la plus longue durée de vie sous l’eau sans dépressurisation en Floride, aux États-Unis.

Dituri a passé 74 jours dans le Jules’ Undersea Lodge depuis le 1er mars, où il mange des repas riches en protéines. Il fait de l’exercice et réalise des expériences quotidiennes pour voir comment son corps réagit à la pression extrême. Dituri vit au fond d’un lagon de 9 mètres de profondeur à Key Largo, dans un lodge qui n’utilise aucune technologie pour réduire la pression sous-marine. L’homme prévoit de rester au lodge jusqu’au 9 juin et d’accomplir une mission sous-marine appelée Projet Neptune 100. La mission comprend des recherches médicales et océaniques.

Pendant son séjour, Dituri a touché plus de 2 500 étudiants par le biais de cours en ligne en sciences marines et de cours d’ingénierie biomédicale à l’Université de Floride du Sud.
