Messi veut utiliser son influence et il participera à des projets environnementaux. Il prévoit de nettoyer les plages et de transformer les plastiques collectés en une sculpture de sa chaussure de football. Cet effort commence par le nettoyage de la rivière Paraná à Rosario, en Argentine. Join the Planet se réjouit de l’aide de Messi. Les gens du monde entier connaissent Messi, et son aide peut avoir un impact important sur les gens et sur la façon dont ils pensent au changement climatique.
