La star du football Cristiano Ronaldo était à la Maison Blanche pour un dîner spécial alors que le président américain Trump accueillait le prince héritier saoudien Mohammed bin Salman.
Cette rencontre a permis de mettre fin à la rupture diplomatique du prince après la mort en 2018 du journaliste Jamal Khashoggi.
Ronaldo joue pour Al-Nassr, une équipe que le groupe du prince Mohammed possède en grande partie. Ronaldo s’est assis près d’importants chefs d’entreprise comme Elon Musk et le patron d’Apple. Trump a déclaré que son fils, Barron, était un grand fan de Ronaldo. Ronaldo a également aidé l’Arabie saoudite à obtenir le droit d’organiser la Coupe du monde de 2034.
Pendant la visite, Trump n’a pas autorisé les journalistes à poser des questions sur les droits de l’homme. Trump a également annoncé que l’Arabie saoudite allait investir d’énormes sommes d’argent aux États-Unis. Le prince se rend à Washington parce que son pays veut changer et faire croître son économie pour la rendre forte.
