En Europe, le thon rouge a presque disparu il y a 20 ans. De nombreux bateaux pêchent trop de poissons parce que les gens veulent des sushis. Il n’y a pas de bonnes règles. De nombreux pêcheurs enfreignent les règles.
Les scientifiques demandent de l’aide. En 2007, de nouvelles règles sont mises en place. Elles prévoient des quotas et des périodes de pêche courtes. Cela permet au thon de revenir. Aujourd’hui, il y a beaucoup plus de thons. En France, les gens doivent peser et étiqueter chaque poisson. Les pêcheurs apprécient ces règles. Ils peuvent travailler tout en assurant la sécurité des poissons.
Les scientifiques observent également les thons. Ils utilisent de petits avions pour survoler la mer. Le thon est maintenant en sécurité, mais les gens doivent respecter les règles. La pêche illégale peut encore se produire.
