En Argentine, cinq nouveaux chevaux sont très spéciaux. Ce sont les premiers chevaux génétiquement modifiés au monde.
Les scientifiques utilisent un outil appelé CRISPR pour modifier leur ADN. Ils font en sorte que les chevaux développent plus de muscles, afin qu’ils soient plus rapides. L’entreprise Kheiron Biotech estime qu’il s’agit là d’un grand pas pour le polo.
Mais l’association argentine de polo dit non. Ces chevaux ne peuvent pas jouer à des jeux de polo. Ils veulent que ce sport reste naturel, avec un élevage normal. Certaines personnes craignent que d’autres pays n’achètent pas ces nouveaux chevaux.
Dans le passé, l’Argentine a déjà utilisé la science comme le clonage. Certaines personnes aiment les nouvelles idées, d’autres non. Personne ne sait encore si ces chevaux sont vraiment meilleurs.
