Le président Joe Biden se dit désolé pour les internats indiens. Ces écoles ont des chambres pour les enfants. Les enfants y vivent. Le gouvernement américain aide à créer et à payer ces écoles.

Ces écoles sont ouvertes de 1819 à 1969. Les enfants indigènes doivent vivre loin de leur famille. Ils ne peuvent pas parler leur langue ni montrer leur culture. De nombreux enfants meurent dans ces écoles. Les chiffres officiels parlent de 1 000 enfants. Mais c’est peut-être beaucoup plus.

C’est une bonne chose que les États-Unis s’excusent. Mais les Américains doivent connaître cette histoire. Ils doivent comprendre à quel point c’est grave.
